Saturday...okay got that right? LOL

Today I was able to sleep in til 10 am..and am so thankful, being I went out last night with some mom's to celebrate a really good friend's birthday. I left early. I'm always so tired. I feel like maybe if someone could let me sleep for a week, I will have caught up on all the sleep I missed over the past 8 years, since I got pregnant.

Matthew and Eric went out to play in the snow today. Matthew received a really cool snowball maker as a birthday gift, that he had been dying to use. Thank you God that the cold weather doesn't bother Eric, the way it bothers me. I always feel it in my bones, and am always cold, no matter how bundled I get.

Tomorrow is Valentines day. When I married Papa Swan I told him, that due to us being married so close to this holiday, that my real valentine's day is our anniversary. I told Matthew the other night at dinner, that Mommy married my valentine and that is why my anniversary is more important than the day 4 days before. Although I also told him, that since he has been born, he is also my valentine and for him, the day is special. He was the most wonderful valentine's / anniversary present that first year. And continues to be, everything to me, that no holiday or card could ever come close to representing.

Happy Valentines Day to everyone that is celebrating it with ones that you love. Love in itself is definitely a reason for a celebration, and should last more than one day a year. Otherwise, it's kind of hypocritical, or doesn't feel as special, due to anyone can make a difference for one day in some one's life....it's all those days in between though that matter.

Today's Friday, yesterday wasn't Remember When Wednesday!! LOL

Okay, not only do I stay away for a long time, but when going to type my title today being Thankful Thursday, it hit me!! I am so off right now:-)

I am happy though this morning. Just got back from Shaws and nothing starts my day better than Matthew's voice, then Tastycake Butterscotch Krimpets at my local store. I know they have been up here in MA for awhile now, but to get my favorites so close, finally!! And to have it with my French Vanilla coffee, you know it's going to be a good day.

I had to run a few errands this morning, because today in school Matthew's first grade class will be singing to him Happy Birthday along with some Valentine partying at the same time.

It is also Pajama Day, little things make us so happy in this world. Matthew gets to wear his new pajamas from Aunt K with Anakin Skywalker, Yoda and Hans Solo on them. He is one happy little guy.

He is continuing to impress me every day and I could type til the end of the earth about all that he is amazing at, but trying to move forward and not so much catch up with the past year.

At this time though, he loves anything Lego's, and of course the Wii, he aces at every game he does and makes my playing of the old Nintendo or Atari, look really pathetic. I was good at them though at the time. When my father had his pizza place when I was 14, he would give out 6 free slices to anyone who could beat my score on the Donkey Kong game he had there.

Matthew though takes everything to a whole other level. He still looks at the world like a sponge!! Yesterday in school he came home with a paper with two faces made out of black construction paper, that were Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. I told him that when Mommy was a girl, our teacher put the projector on the wall, so we could trace out those faces. He said "Mommy they don't do that anymore, we just trace the face onto the paper"...that was back in the old days....

He loves math, and is getting better at reading, more so when he hasn't had a long day already. He was given a wonderful gift of Treasure Island and read it for his first official book (with my help) for a project we have with the town and the school. This week we read another wonderful book by our friend along with one from his library.

He has been acing his spelling tests every week, and it reminds me of how much I loved spelling and still love reading. The next book we will read next week while on school vacation, is close to my heart.

In the 4th grade, my teacher would read to us My Side Of The Mountain . I don't know if it is because I had the biggest crush on this teacher, as he read and would pop his bubblicious bubble gum over his mustache, but when he read this book, it has stayed with me my whole life.

In my early 20's, I got the paperback of this book and re-read it. A few years ago, I got the movie version so Matthew could get the love of this little boy, with his pet peregrine falcon, in this tree in the woods. He loved it. I have been so waiting for this moment when I can now, share with him my book and we will re-read it together.

Ironically due to us living on the lake, we have wonderful wildlife and birds all around us. About a month ago, Matthew came home from school. I have his desk set up right in what would be the dining room, against a window, for light and as I was leaning over him, I thought some kind of shadowy figures flew outside the window, huge ones and maybe was our blue heron. I inched my way, down my house which is all windows and peeked out and on one branch on my neighbors tree, there sat a little above us two Red Tailed Hawks . I motioned quietly for Matthew to come over, and called my neighbor hoping they had a camera. They eventually flew away, but the wing span was incredible.

Ironically, my love of My Side Of The Mountain, has this inner boy in me, this love of things that I feel when I see them especially with my son with me to witness them with me. It's like we are living, and experiencing the amazingness of this world together and it is one amazing journey.

I miss him huge now that he is in school all day. I am so looking forward to next week when he has winter vacation and we have chances to bond more, with more memories. We are so far going to this SEE science center we went to a few years ago, that we know now he will appreciate so much more with their incredible Lego display of the whole town of Manchester, NH.

Well, have to get off now, so I can get in that shower, and get to his school later.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

My Leprechaun was looking forward to a good day at school today, wondering if the leprechaun from last year in preschool would again visit his school and leave some gold glitter footprints around.

Last night, Eric taped Matthew playing his acoustic guitar along with Metallica's Whiskey In The Jar and Enter Sandman. It was the Irish guitar playing performance of a lifetime. I am hoping one of these days to share some moments from the video..baby steps...one thing at a time.

Enjoy your day and don't drink too much green beer!

Remember When Wednesday - Matthew's first Valentine's day, Planning his 6th Birthday Party

The last week, I have been consumed by planning my little guy's sixth birthday party.

How is it possible that he is turning six in just a few weeks...closer to the double digits for the rest of his life?

He is having a Star Wars birthday party this year. Mama Swan found an a inexpensive (compared to the other choices available) way to have his party at a movie theater nearby, with his friends from school and his family. We will have the movie and cake, popcorn and drinks and hopefully the little princess' we are inviting don't get scared.

I chose the original Star Wars from 1977, now called Star Wars IV A New Hope.

(it wouldn't let me copy my cute little clip art from the invitation, but here is an edited version)

I figured with today's updated technology and violence and even cartoons on Cartoon Network, that this was the best choice. We saw Clone Wars which is the animated cartoon, but it really is more violent than the original movie, in my opinion.

There are a few touchy scenes like the compact garbage scene and the one where Obi wan cuts off a guys arm, but I'm hoping the girls anyway are distracted or something during this (brief few seconds) time. Other moms are assuring me that if the parents think it is scary, then they will take the kid home or out to the lobby for a moment before returning.

The rest of the movie is awesome with R2D2 and C-3P0 and Chewbacca.

Anyway, it's a cold one up here in New England today with only 10 degrees and wind chills below Zero.

We got to go sledding earlier in the week though, so we at least got in our fun outside before this Midwest artic freeze they are calling for the rest of the week, sets in.

I wanted to post pictures of our sledding trip, but my camera is acting up and my friend N, sent them to me in a format, where I can't use them until I order them.

It's hard to believe that Matthew's first Valentine's day in the NICU was six years ago.

New Year's Eve

Thankful Thursday - First day of 2009

A couple of days ago, I was thinking of having some old friends over with their kids for New Year's eve. Thought it was time and Matthew could play with the kids and stay up late, for his first time.

Due to the snow storm, we got 7 inches yesterday and we're pretty much housebound.

The night before, I was awake all night thinking of things in my head and not being able to fall asleep. One was - about 7 or 8 years ago, we were going to have a New Year's eve party and for some reason, it didn't pan out. I had bought decorations, blowers, hats, those hand things that rattle, balloons etc....

Yesterday afternoon I asked Eric, if he had seen that old bag that we never used. He thought I had thrown it out. We were all down in our basement, with the fire going while Matthew was creating beautiful artwork from his Blendy Pens Santa got him. I looked across the room, and jumping right out at me - was the bag.

We had the best time decorating the basement and having our own little party to decorate and Matthew hung his pictures all over the place, helped me put up streamers.

Eric braved the blizzard to get us Chinese for dinner, and Matthew said "I want to do this every New Years Eve."

Around 8:30, it was time for him to go to bed and I don't know what made me think of it, but am so glad I did.

I said to Papa Swan, "Let's pretend it's midnight with him right now and countdown and wear the stuff and blow those thingamagigs and yell Happy New Year!!" We did..and then we ended Matthew's night with a nice family hug and warm wishes for us and love, hugs and kisses.

Happy New Years Everyone

Just wanted to wish my family and friends a HEALTHY, HAPPY, PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR with lots of love and family to be in your life.

That's my only wish for this new year.

That of course includes myself, Papa Swan and Matthew:-)

My resolution for 2009 is:

to stop feeling weighed down by finances, friends and family far away and to start taking control of my own life right here. I know I am blessed with Matthew, but I really need to put into action my taking my "own" happiness into gear. Not only will I find a job again to help us out, but will also make sure Matthew has a well balanced life with his self esteem in tact as well as his sense of "family" on both sides of his family that are part of "who he is".

My resolution is to begin tackling every day right here. As I have been, but with a different mindset. More of a mission, than feeling like a victim of my own decision to move here many years ago. It was my decision. I'm tired of playing the same old tapes over in my head and my heart.

No one will ever hear me say again (uh oh..should I really type this)...no one will ever hear me say again.....that it is hard...poor me.

You all know my heart, but for Matthew's sake as well as my own sake, I need to focus on what is here.

I've always been the one to put everyone in my life first, and due to that I've not taken courses, stayed at jobs, gave up social engagements due to someone else's views or opinions or lack of desire from other parties involved, kept in contact with certain friends, to more recently wearing the same old sweats year after year and basically just become someone who has lost herself.

No one can help me, but me. No one can help enforce my life, but me. I'm not blaming anyone but me.

Therefore, as my resolution for my life's sake, for my miracle's sake:

I resolve to find "me" again, to reach out again, to learn how to listen to other's again, to be a friend again in order to gain a friend, to learn how to use the phone again (still blog though). I resolve to work on me and not feel sorry for myself anymore.

Starting tomorrow!

Tonight I will drink White Zin and have one more pity party!!

Cheers!

Love you all!

Tuesday Catching up with Matthew's creativity

Today I was just going to post a few things because I have been trying to keep my neck and shoulder area happy. All week last week, my body was so sore and then on Friday morning, I woke up with the worst neck pain that really wouldn't let me do anything but sit on the recliner with pillows behind my head.

Usually neck pain or a crimp in your neck goes away in an hour or so....not me...try 4 days now and I still can't turn my head to the left.

Finally yesterday I forced my self to get out and pray I only drove in a straight line to get some shopping done.

I was able to make it back safely.

This is ridiculous! I can't be "grounded" at this time of year!!
Not to mention we now have two feet of snow on the ground due to two winter storms, so scraping the ice of your car and the snow is really hard when you can't move your neck and you are in pain...

Alright enough about me.

On a lighter and happier and funnier and lovelier note. Matthew has had a wonderful week of making memories with Papa Swan, using his creative side

and helping me bake cookies (before my neck pain)

and yesterday after letting it sit overnight we attempted to finish off a gingerbread house we had hanging around from last year. It was practice for today. It is my sister in law's annual gingerbread house day with her sons and nieces and nephews that she does every year. Eric will be driving us. There is no way I could attempt Boston driving until my neck feels better.

Last Tuesday, Eric was watching Chronicle and they mentioned there was Harvard Museum Of Natural History that he had never been to in Cambridge that between certain hours on Wednesday afternoons was free to the public. He took Matthew and they had a ball.

This was a creation that he made for us with his teachers for Christmas that he insisted we both open. It is the most beautiful handmade calender for the new year. It is absolutely precious and something I as a mom, treasure so much. To have him do this, and not tell us and to have the teachers do this with him, it really is a tearjerker. Pictures to come at a later date.

Some funny quotes and antidotes from him this week:
  1. He is singing and humming Jingle Bells, and Gloria Estevan's Let It snow by dancing and putting his finger up in a John Travolta style on the emphasis of the music. He does this while making gingerbread houses, building Lego's or playing Mario.
  2. Making the Gingerbread House, he told me he wanted to add A GARAGE!
  3. Matthew: Mommy, what year was I born? I told him 2003. Matthew: It hasn't changed yet?
  4. While playing with his Lego's under the Christmas tree before school in the morning, he says "Mommy, I want to be a professional FISHERMAN when I grow up!" I told him he can do anything he puts his mind to! He said "And I want to catch trout for us for dinner!!"
  5. This morning, first words out of his mouth were: I had a nightmare that a Mexican bear was chasing me and my cousin C.
  6. Last night he fell asleep before Daddy's promised kiss and a hug, so first thing today he ran into Daddy to hug him and tell him "YOU FORGOT TO GIVE ME A HUG AND A KISS LAST NIGHT!" We assured him, he didn't forget, but he was asleep when he got them.

Thankful Thursday - One Week left before Christmas

This year, due to finances we have had to cut back like everyone else. It stinks. I normally do a calender of pictures of Matthew for all grandparents and us, but this year we will be back to using the old ones they send us in the mail from the oil company.

Unless the after Christmas deals, make it extremely worth my effort:-) Hmmmmm...brain now working....

This year, we will forgo our present to one another again, for Matthew's sake so he can have what he deserves..and to pay the mortgage.

This year, again we will be happy and thankful for the blessings we have year round, the memories we make all year to fulfill our Christmas wish. That is really the most important thing.

I really believe that it is not the size of the present that is opened, but the love behind the gift.

For Matthew's sake, for him to understand giving and receiving from the heart, I just ask Papa Swan to make sure he is involved with letting Matthew make me a gift from his heart, and to be there when Papa Swan "gets me something small" to show Matthew that it is coming from him, and to be excited about giving to his "wife". Just as he needs to be apart of my giving to Papa Swan. He needs to witness this type of love on both sides, in order to feel whole and complete, and go out there in the world someday and have the generosity within his heart.

I believe that the memories and pictures that I take year round, witnessing the love from Daddy to son, from Matthew with anyone on both sides of our family enjoying life...are my continued love.

The gift that I give of capturing these moments is what gets me through each season, each winter, each day.

I really wake up each day and end the day thanking God for my miracle.

Again, I wouldn't have that miracle without Papa Swan. We wouldn't have our home.

So all I really am asking Santa for is that reciprocated love all year round, that Matthew can grow into the most high esteemed man someday by knowing all the gifts that he can give and receive in life.....without even spending a penny.

Well most of the time:-)

My point is, with one week left before the big day, I just want to make sure that Matthew turns into the most well rounded man someday. With love and faith, and a kind and generous heart and full of the most wonderful esteem. The kind where he is not only smart and can conquer the world and anything he puts his mind to, but the kind where he is a "whole" man and is never afraid to keep showing his loving side, that one doesn't have to be compromised without the other and that they go hand in hand in life.

And to know that each day, is really a gift and to explode with life everyday.

Merry Christmas Matthew and Papa Swan! I love you!

Mommy's letter to Matthew (week in review)

Dear Matthew,

This week you made Mommy so proud. You had a busy week at school and play dates with some new and old friends.

You are really doing great at keeping us both busy.

While you're building your own friendships, you unknowingly are making friends for Mommy (the moms of your new friends).

You are so outgoing, personable and caring that I know you are going far in life with these qualities alone.

In one week, we've gone to the playground with the triplets and her sister, to school, to have lunch and play with a new schoolmate and her twin brothers and today to a wonderful little zoo and playground that we love with R and N and their mom.

You had such a wonderful time and you and R are becoming such good buddies. You even thanked him for inviting you to his "Scooby Doo Party" next week. As usual, your loving ways with N, touched her heart and mine. I'm told you are number #2 on her birthday list in January.

You made a Red Sox Buddie at school while celebrating Red Sox week.

They are in the playoffs again and tonight Daisuke Matsuzaka will be pitching against the Angel's. Everyone in MA is cheering them on. Your Red Sox Buddie is so cute with the body of a baseball that you drew and cut out with your scissors. It is right up in the window next to our Halloween decorations for the world to see. Last week you made a really cute green wiggly worm because it was Apple Week.

You are loving the songs you learn everyday. Sometimes you remember the words, but sometimes you don't. That's ok, because you also have the uncanny ability to come up with your own words. The other day in the car you sang a song about Mickey Mouse.

When Mommy told you how much I loved that song, you mentioned "Every time I look at something, my brain makes me want to sing".

I taught you the word "INSPIRATION".

I explained that inspiration is what Mommy used to have, when she would write her own lyrics 20 years ago. I said that for Mommy though, I needed a moment on the riverbank with a notebook and pen and no distractions for my creativity to flow. I told you that you don't have that problem, you have the talent of immediate creativity to create that song.

Sometime before today is done, we are making that scarecrow that Mommy promised and decorate the front of the house with that little bale of hay I bought. You really are loving this season and having fun doing anything arts and crafts.

Over the weekend, you and Daddy made two black construction paper projects with Halloween velvet stickers on them and they came out awesome!

Last but not least. Yesterday I asked you again (for the millionth time) if you would marry Mommy? You mentioned (for the millionth time) no, that I'm married to Daddy. I said "But I want to be married to both of you".

You said "I CAN'T MOMMY...................................DADDY LOVED YOU FIRST.."

I LOVE YOU HONEY.
THANK YOU FOR BEING MY MIRACLE AND MY WORLD.
Love
Mommy

Fourth Of July Madness on Cape Cod

Alright, we've had a nice couple of days. It started with Princess N for the weekend and Daddy taking the week off. He got alot of things accomplished around the yard earlier in the week and so we were hoping to have nice weather and to enjoy a few days down the cape.

But the weather changed our plans. Once we found out that it wasn't going to be nice, we decided to take Matthew to his first "real" fireworks where he really knew what was going on.

On Tuesday night we went with my neighbor and her grandson to a neighboring town and Matthew had a blast. And that was all before the fireworks started. A nice family brought free sparklers and "kid friendly" fireworks for any little kids running around the place where they parked there blanket. Matthew got to do his first sparkler. After it went out, his expression was "that's it". Now what?

I forgot my camera and it really is a shame. My neighbor bought him one of those light up swords they sell at fourth of July events and Matthew turned into Darth Vader. I tried to tell him he was Luke Skywalker that saved Princess Lea, but he wanted to be Darth. He was adorable regardless.

When the actual fireworks started, I got to hold him for a few minutes of snuggling and then he wanted to keep being Darth Vader with his sword. He was running around and enjoying being out so late. When the finale happened, it got his attention again for a few minutes but not like we had hoped.

Yesterday, we decided to head down to my sister-in-law's down the cape. It would be a family gathering and a cookout. We brought our swimsuits but never got to use them. By the time we got there, there was a unbelievable event going on for kids that we are happy that we went to.

The fireman were spraying fire foam into a large field and down a grassy hill for the kids to play in. There were a few problems with the location and craziness of the event. They should have had a few areas sectioned off for kids of different ages because they all were sliding down this one hill. Regardless of size, age. A few parents went down. The bottom of the hill was a grassy area that went to a concrete area. Once that hill got out of control the foam would be on top of that concrete which was dangerous in my eyes.

At first I thought because Matthew had just passed out in the car, that he would be afraid of all the chaos. Once he got his "piggies" wet and with Daddy's eyes and his little cousins going up the hill and playing, there was no stopping him.

At the top of the hill there was another more leveled area that he played in that I was able to breathe looking at him in. But then it was like a slow moving current. Just the different sizes of kids and the fireman blowing the foam, Matthew at one point got caught up right before my eyes in the mass of kids going down the hill. I almost jumped in after him, but was afraid because of my ankle and the slipperiness of the foam I would break my other one. I just panicked and froze. Eric was oblivious to Matthew going down because it all happened so fast.

Matthew gets up in between a million kids at the bottom of the hill and he still at that point only had foam up to his waist. He walked away and decided that from now on he was doing it again and again! He even went up the middle from the bottom of the hill a few times, like a fish swimming against the current and Thank You God that he didn't get hurt. He had a blast and the worst boo boo at that point was a bump on his chin.

Later on he would get a few more playing with Daddy on a big ball at his Aunt's house, but considering that he gets a few a day now mostly on his legs, it was like a normal day.
We all had a good time, but then the weather got cooler and rainier so we never got to the ocean.
We'll have to go back again soon.

Mommy and Matthew at Memorial Day Parade

Well, we went to the parade today. Matthew enjoyed everything but the ceremony.

Click on the picture for more great pics from yesterday and today, including the new other "woman" in Daddy's life. She keeps him warm and fed, so he calls it a she... LOL

Almost identical pic of Matthew taken with Easter Bunny that was in the local newspaper

Almost identical pic of Matthew taken with Easter Bunny that was in the local newspaper with N-Cinderella cropped out for for safety's sake (April 7, 2007)

I would love to publish the actual shot from the paper, but then that would give away too much info on where we live and for legality sake I can't do it without giving credit to the newspaper and photographer.

So this is the pic that Mommy took at the same time with his beautiful girlfriend unfortunately cropped out to hide her identity.

The newspaper captioned it "A WALK WITH THE BUNNY"

MATTTHEW MADE THE PAPER & RECIPE FOR MATTHEW'S COOKIES FOR DADDY TO TAKE TO NJ

Well I was going to hold off blogging about my baby today, until I got a copy of the newspaper. I am hoping to show everyone (with some alterations for safety's sake), that he made the paper today!!! I am waiting for my online version so I can share it all with you. It is a picture of him and his little sweetheart with the Easter Bunny during an Easter Bunny stroll in our town.

The weekend started for us on Friday night when we got an unexpected visitor from Matthew's little girlfriend (to be known as N-Cinderella). They were born 4 months apart and basically it has been love since then. She is my neighbor's granddaughter and we used to get to see her when she would visit about two weekends a month, but they were recently cut down to one weekend a month and so it's been hard on him. She lives out in western MA and is a little bit of a drive for us to visit. I am also much closer to her grandmother than her mom. We used to be close when she lived next door, but she is busy, like us all now, with her life so we just don't talk the way we used to.

Matthew and her have been married in my house. In the summer she'll pick my fake flowers out of a pot and propose to him and then they walk down a little path in my living room into my living room. She is ALL Girl and such a sweetheart. They have there lover's quarrels, but mostly they are just such good friends. It is so awesome to watch them grow up and how funny they are together. Matthew jumps for her (Mommy has to talk to him about that one). I won't be putting up any pictures of her though other than my favorite black and white one from last week.

On Friday night, N-Cinderella showed up at my door and I didn't think with the holiday we would get to see her this weekend. It made Matthew's and our night. To see him so happy all weekend, having his playmate right next door to come over and play all day. We were planning on taking him to see the Easter Bunny in the center of our town on Saturday morning. When she showed up she mentioned that she was going and was all excited because she had a new dress just for the occasion and she was going with her Grammy and maybe we could go too? We decided we would. Saturday morning, Matthew all dressed up and her in her new dress with their Easter Baskets was like another "first date" for them. Every time they do something they have never experienced before with each other, it is literally like a first date. She holds his hand and he walks around with a silly grin on his face.

We went up to the center of town and as soon as we started walking toward the shoppes, the Easter Bunny was out on the sidewalk walking around. Matthew couldn't believe it. He is so shy with guys and an 8 foot bunny wasn't going to get him to look at him either. He looked at him smiling, but kind of out of the corner of his eye, like if I look you in the eye, I might just melt. I know N-Cinderella holding his hand, definitely was a big help. She has no fear and will walk up to anyone smiling and saying hello. Even walking into each of the shops to pick up Easter Treats for their Easter baskets, Matthew's head was down as if saying "You're letting me take candy out of this basket?" By the time we were done though he was an old pro, just like Halloween. It takes him a few tries to come around and then look out, he was running up to every shop that had balloons outside saying "They have CANDY!!!"

When they were with the Easter Bunny, I took pictures and a man next to me asked their names and where they were from. I told him and asked where he was from. He mentioned the newspaper and I really thought his picture would be in yesterday for the actual holiday.

I was so bummed. I really felt like, whose kid is cuter than mine to put in that paper (I'm not afraid to say it). Then this afternoon, my neighbor calls me and said it was in today's paper. I emailed my whole mom's club and all of my neighbors asking for copies. I am SO PROUD.
I am going to get it from the paper into a larger size and my neighbor is going to scan it tomorrow and send it to me.

So until then, I will just close this post with one final funny moments...ok...two..
  1. When I showed Matthew his picture in the paper, I said "Honey!!! Mommy is so proud of you, your famous, not everyone has there picture in the paper!! "He said, "Why don't you put your picture there?" I said, "Well, no paper thinks Mommy is as cute as you are!!" He said "YEAH, and look at the Easter Bunny...HE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EASTERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
  2. This morning, we were talking about his Dad going to NJ tomorrow for the whole week. I thought I would have time to make him something from Matthew to take with him like a scrapbook or a homemade card. Matthew suggested we make cookies....! Easter Plans, Landscaping dreams and Chicken Wings for dinner!

Well, it's official, we are having Easter Dinner at our house and I'm thrilled. I cleaned..ok...re-arranged my furniture today. I was going to take advantage of 5 minutes for mom Tackle It Tuesday's but didn't want to take a picture of my house before. I always have enough projects though, so maybe next week Tackle It Tuesday will be all mine.

Matthew was so cute today. He was again playing on Disney's site and when he finally moved away from the computer, he walked into our living room and was like "WOW MOM!!! THIS LOOKS GREAT!!! WHY DID YOU DO THIS!!!!?!?!?!?!?! AND THE TABLE IS SO BIG!!!!"

It made it all worth while. His appreciation for me cleaning up all of his toys and rearranging the furniture and that look of approval on his face was something to strive for everyday.

I told him that "Daddy's family is coming here on Sunday for dinner and there is alot of them that's why Mommy made the table bigger and I had to move your toys so your Uncles and Aunts and cousins don't fall on them right?" You would think he realized that Christmas is coming soon and it's all coming back to him.

I haven't officially spoken to my brother's or father now that we decided what we are doing, but I'm pretty sure they already had made plans.

Now I just have the rest of the week, to really deep clean the rest of the house. There are enough dust bunnies that the Easter Bunny will think he doesn't have to come here, that we have enough bunnies...ugh..LOL

I wanted to blog more about gardening plans today but it will have to wait. Last year I was on Better Homes & Gardens website and started to plan a landscaping plan for flowers and shrubs in our zone and started dreaming about my yard, but as I mentioned before until our garage is done, our yard is still going to be in rock garden mode. I was hoping to start dreaming again and getting ready for it all though when it would finally happen by keeping busy on my plan, but the site is blocked up and it's now dinner time, so another day.

I'm making Chicken Wings for Matthew for dinner. It is one of the only ways other than Nuggets that I can get a meat into him. He loves them these days with Barb-B-Que sauce. I was going to try something fancy but I am running out of time.

Matthew's American Flag March 26 2007

Matthew's American Flag March 26 2007

I am so impressed with this one. He was just going to put the star stickers on it and I said honey why don't I show you what the American Flag looks like. You can put the stickers in the box and then I happ-hazardly colored in a few red stripes.

He put the other stars in between the stripes all by himself with no help from me!!! All perfect lines and spread out so neatly!!

Matthew painting a pastel Easter Bunny March 2006

Well, my little boy loves to do arts and crafts. Today was no exception, we spent the morning doing stickers;-)

This picture shows his talent last year of him doing a pastel Easter Bunny!

Maybe we will paint tomorrow so we can practice on his inborn talent again. He loves art as much as music. His Grandfather on Daddy's side is an artist along with his Aunt. His Dad isn't too shabby either.

And my mom always was a wonderful illustrator, before getting sick. My brother "P" (for now, til I think of an appropriate nick name) also is an awesome artist...and then music also on my side.

This Kid Is Going Places!!!!!

Best Of Two Heritages - ITALIAN AND IRISH

Well, Mommy got her night out!!! Yeah!! Thanks to my good friend "TwinsMom".

We had a good time at the show. Cheryl Wheeler is so funny and her voice and guitar sound is so similar to Mary Chapin Carpenter who I love.

Before we went out, I visited with my friends mother in law for awhile and it was funny because on St. Patrick's Day, I found out she grew up in the North End of Boston. Little Italy. We talked about canoli's, ricotta pies and the just the wonderfulness of the Italian culture. I let her know I'm half Italian, half Irish, my maiden name means friend in Italian. This morning I emailed her my Grandmother P's recipe handed down to me from my cousin for what my grandmother called Easter Pizza.

The recipe was for 5 pies because she had 8 children and when the whole family got together during the holidays 5 pies was nothing. The recipe filling calls for 10 eggs, 3 lbs muenster cheese and 1 1/2 lb of ricotta:-) Talk about high cholesterol. The crust called for 8 more eggs!! LOL

It was so nice to meet someone who knew what that recipe meant to me. Someone who appreciates her heritage and the good food that comes with it!

One of the blogs that I love to read, that I just found the other night is about a nice Sicilian girl who moved from NJ to CA. She has a wonderful way of expressing her true self and her sense of humor is something too! We have alot of similarities in that she misses her hometown and appreciates little thing like the food in the area she is from. I miss my hot dogs with chili, fries with gravy and my mountains, not to mention my familia and also lost my mom in the last year. Visit her at http://www.acharmedlife.typepad.com/

Well, I told myself I was going to get us out today now that it is sunny, still only 25 degrees though! ugh!

I just wanted to mention though that the first thing Matthew said to me when he woke up this morning was, Mommy (smiling) I missed you!! Did you have fun with your band? LOL I reminded him that Mommy went to see another girl sing and that I wish it was Mommy and her band. It was so cute because he thinks when my father goes out when we are visiting him in PA, that he is playing with his band. (He can just be going out for coffee) And now he is thinking that with Mommy, yeah!!!!

I also wanted to mention that now that St. Patty's Day is over, I can also be proud to be ITALIAN!!!! OK....DAD!!! I know how my proud Italian father must have felt yesterday reading about Ireland, he wants us to go to Italy before we go back to Ireland.
